First day:
Goal: My goal for the first day would be to call a meeting with
my administrative team. My administrative team would include, depending
on the structure of the district, the chief financial officer, my
administrative assistant, the assistant superintendent, executive directors,
director of human resources, public relations director, and chief operations
officer.
Objective: The purpose of this meeting would be to meet with them as
a group and let them know of my goal to meet with them individually throughout
the first month with a specific list of questions to help guide our
conversations. This set of questions would be crafted with the insight
gained from the interviews and from reviewing district data.
Activities addressing goals and
objectives: Development of questions for
interviews, agenda for the meeting
Resources needed to achieve goals and
objectives: Informal gathering of
information from interviews, AIES data to review assessment and budget data
First Week:
Goal: My goal for the first week would be to make contact with each
board member and begin to meet with each administrative team member to
establish a one-on-one hour-long meeting.
Objective: The purpose of these meetings would be to meet with them
individually to find out what their goals are for the district, what strengths
they see, and what challenges they see with our district.
Activities addressing goals and
objectives: I would send the questions out
prior to the meetings so they can prepare for the meetings. After all the
meetings, I would gather the responses into categories and share those findings
throughout additional meetings.
Resources needed to achieve goals and
objectives: time, locations and questions
First Month:
Goal: My goal for the first month would be to complete
the meetings with my administrative team, and board, and reach out to do the
same with principals and key community members.
Objective: The purpose of these meetings would be to gather
information about the community goals for the district, develop relations with
community members, and begin building trust within the community.
Activities addressing goals and
objectives: Depending on the time of the
year, I would be as visible as possible at campuses, community meetings, and
develop a “campaign address” to be shared throughout about who I am and what I
am about. I would want to get the public relations department involved in
hosting meet the superintendent opportunities.
Resources needed to achieve goals and
objectives: Access to community meetings,
a strong speech for repeated presentations, comprehensive calendar of various
community activities,
First Year:
Goal: My goal for the first year would be to establish
regularly scheduled meetings with each board member. I would also want to
identify strengths and challenges of my administrative team. I would also
want to gather information to identify the top five priority issues for the
district. I would want to start developing a plan to address these issues.
Objective: My objective would be to establish positive working
relationships with the board, my administrative team, and community. My
other objectives would be to provide strong leadership to help guide the decision-making
and vision of the district.
Activities addressing goals and
objectives: Develop a systematic needs
assessment instrument to help determine the top five priority issues for the
district. Develop a strong public relations campaign to help market and
promote the district.
Resources needed to achieve goals and
objectives: technology support, a
strength/constraints identifying process, team building activities, a needs
assessment instrument, public relations campaign structure.
Great job. Through my experience I agree that a public relations campaign is important. The needs assessment is also a great idea. Looks like a great plan.
ReplyDeletePublic relations is key. It is a full time job and never takes a day off.
